4 children killed in Gazipur boat capsize

Four children were killed as a boat capsized in a beel (water body) of Bymile in the city on Saturday afternoon while they were having a boat ride on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr, reports BSS.

The deceased were identified as Mim, 8, Sadia, 10, Parvin, 8, and Shohag, 7, all residents of the Bymile area.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Joydebpur Thana Nazrul Islam said nine children, aged between 8 and 12, went on a boat journey in the water body in the afternoon as part of the Eid celebrations.

However, the boat sank around 4 pm, he said.

The four children met the watery burial while the rest managed to swim ashore, the OC added.
