Maritime ports asked to hoist signal 3

Maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to keep hoisted local cautionary signal no three as the low over the North Bay and adjoining area has intensified into a well-marked low over the same area. 

The Bangladesh Meteorological Department released the information in a special weather bulletin on Saturday.

It said: "It is likely to intensify further and move in North or Northeasterly direction. Southwest monsoon has set on over Chittagong, Sylhet, Mymensingh & Dhaka divisions."

“Light to moderate rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty or squally wind and lightning flashes is likely to occur at most places over Khulna, Barisal, Chittagong, Sylhet & Dhaka divisions and at a few places over Rajshahi, Rangpur & Mymensingh divisions with moderately heavy to very heavy falls at places over Barisal & Chittagong divisions,” it adds.
