Rainfall, lightning flashes likely over country

Light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty or squally wind and lightning flashes are likely to occur at many places across the country in next 24 hours ending at 9am tomorrow.

“Light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty or squally wind and lightning flashes are likely to occur at many places over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Sylhet, Dhaka, Mymensingh, Khulna, Barishal and Chattogram divisions with moderately heavy to heavy falls at some places over the country,” said a met bulletin issued this morning here, reports BSS.

Westerly low lies over Bihar and adjoining area, extending its trough to North Bay across Gangetic west Bengal while Southwest monsoon has advanced up to Chittagong coast as Conditions are favourable for further advancement of monsoon, the bulletin added.

Day and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country, it continued.

The maximum temperature was recorded 34.6 degrees Celsius yesterday at Jashore in Khulna division and today’s minimum temperature 22.2 degrees Celsius at Tarash in Rajshahi division.

The highest rainfall in the last 24 hours as of 6 am today was recorded 94 mm at Chuadanga in Khulna division.

The sun sets at 6.42 pm today and rises at 5.11 am tomorrow in the capital.
