AC bus service ‘Dolonchapa’ for women in city
Air-conditioned (AC) bus service “Dolonchapa” for women today opened here ushering in a new hope among the city dwellers.
Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader inaugurated the bus service at Bangabandhu International Conference Center here under the auspicious of Rangs Group, a private institution, reports BSS.
Rangs Group Chairman Abdur Rouf Chowdhury, General Secretary of Dhaka Sarak Paribahan Samity Khandaker Enayet Ullah Khan and Managing Director of Rangs Motors Ltd Sohan Rouf Chowdhury, among others, were present on the occasion.
Each luxury bus contains 36 seats with some other facilities, including comfortable seats, first aid facilities and Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) camera coverage, said a bus service official.
He said ‘Dolonchapa” will be plying from Mirpur Circle to Azimpur, Mirpur-12 to Motijheel via Framgate, Shahbag and Gulistan routes.
Two buses of Indian Volvo Aicher Vehicles Limited started plying today while eight more transports will be opened within next two months. More 60 buses will start plying in the capital gradually, the official also said.
