81mm rainfall recorded in 3 hours in Dhaka

Heavy rains flooded many of Dhaka’s roads and lanes, disrupting traffic and causing immense sufferings for the city dwellers.

The Met office recorded 81 millimeter rainfall in three hours starting from 6 am to 9 am on Thursday.

Vehicles were seen stranded while people were seen wading through the water to reach their destinations in the busy populous city.

In a bulletin, Met office said, light to moderate rain and thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty, squally wind and lightning flashes is likely to occur at many places over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, Mymensingh, Khulna, Barisal, Chittagong and Sylhet divisions with moderately heavy to heavy falls at places over the country.
