12 drug traders killed across country including Dhaka

Twelve drug traders were killed in reported gunfights in Dhaka, Cumilla, Jashore, Kushtia, Brahmanbaria, Thakurgaon, Barguna, Mymensingh and Satkhira in the early hours of Tuesday.

In Dhaka, a drug trader was killed in an alleged gunfight with police at Ashiyan city field of Dakshin Khan area in the capital at 12:15 am. 

The deceased Sumon alias Khuku Sumon was accused in five cases under Narcotics Control Act. 

Two members of police - Assistant Sub Inspector Al Amin and Constable Sakhawat - were injured during this time and were admitted to Kurmitola General Hospital.

Police recovered one thousand pieces of Yaba, a one-shooter gun, four cocktails from the spot.

In Cumilla, two drug traders were killed in a reported gunfights with police at Gunjor area of Muradnagar upazila. At that time, three members of police were also injured.

The deceased Kana Liton, 43, son of Abdus Samad, was accused in 7 drug cases and Baten, 34, son of Shahid Miah, was accused in 8 cases.

Police recovered a pipe gun and 400 bottles of Phensedyl from the spot. 

In Jashore, two drug traders were killed in a reported gunfight between two groups at Chachra Roy Para area of the city.

The deceased are Manik of Roy Para area and Asor Ali of Mondolgati area. 

In Kushtia, two drug traders were killed in a reported gunfight with police at Shehala field of Boalia union in Daulatpur upazila at 3:30 am.

The deceased are Mokaddes Ali, 42, son of Rezaul Islam, and Fazlur Rahman alias Titel, 48, son of late Yeakub Ali. 

Police recovered a home-made pistol, five round bullets, a magazine and 250 bottles of Phensedyl.

In Brahmanbaria, police recovered a body of a youth at Khalajora area in Akhaura upazila around 2:30 am.

The deceased is Jony, 30, son of Firoj Miah, hailing from Debidwar upazila.

Police claimed that Jony was killed in a gunfight between drug traders and dacoits. He was accuses in 8 cases including drug and robbery.

In Thakurgaon, a drug trader was killed in a reported gunfight with police at Shitolpur area in Haripur upazila early Tuesday. 

The deceased Harun, 45, son of late Abdul Aziz, was accused in several cases including drug. 

Ruhul Kuddus, officer-in-charge of Haripur Police Station, confirmed the matter to Jago News.

In Barguna, a drug trader was killed in a reported gunfight with Rapid Action Battalion at Kumrakhali area of Kazirabad union in Betagi upazila. 

The deceased Firoj Mridha, son of late Hashem Mridha, was accused in 9 drug cases, said Mamunur Rashid, officer-in-charge of Betagi Police Station.
