Writ seeks ban on hoisting foreign flags

A writ petition has been filed with the High Court seeking its directive to ban on hoisting of foreign flags across the country ahead of FIFA World Cup Football 2018. 

Advocate Rina Akter on behalf of freedom fighter Muhammad Nurul Amin filed the writ with the concerned branch of the High Court on Sunday.

Advocate Dewan Abdun Naser, a lawyer of Supreme Court confirmed the matter to Jago News.

He said: “The hearing on the writ may be held before the HC bench of Justice Naima Haidar and Justice Jafar Ahmed on Monday.”

According to the writ petition, the FIFA World Cup 2018 is scheduled to start from June 14 in Russia. It was seen that the football supporters from Bangladesh hoist flags of several countries including Brazil, Argentina and Germany during the football world cup.
