Youth stabbed to death over IPL match

A youth was stabbed to death by a rival group following a match of Indian Premier League (IPL) in Narayanganj on Sunday night.

The incident took place at Nogor area of Murapara union in Rupganj upazila around 9:30 pm.

The deceased Rubel Miah, son of late Azmot Ali, was the inhabitant of Nogor area. 

According to family of the deceased, Rubel’s brother Momen locked into brawl with Suruj Miah, son of late Chan Miah, of Mongolkhali area, over an IPL match.

Suruj along with his cohorts attacked on Rubel with sharp weapons after not getting his brother Momen in front of his home.

Later Rubel was admitted to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital where the doctors declared him dead.

Confirming the matter to Jago News, Moniruzzaman Monir, officer-in-charge of Rupganj Police Station, said they are trying to arrest those who are involved with the killing.
