2 Bangladeshi UN peacekeepers killed in Central Africa

Two Bangladeshi UN peacekeepers died and two others received injuries in a road accident that took place in Central African Republic on Saturday, reports BSS.

The deceased are soldier Arjan Hawleder, 34, from E Bengal Faridpur and soldier M Ripul Mia, 35, from Div Locating Battery Artillery (Rangpur).

The injured soldiers are M Jamal Uddin Mollah, 34, E Bengal (Faridpur) and M Mojahidul Islam, 36, AD Regiment Artillery (Naogaon).

“They were deployed to ensure security of a convoy of military and civil vehicles. The accident occurred as the driver of a wood laden heavy vehicle lost his control over the steering in Yaloke area,” said an ISPR press release.

The injured were taken to Bangui city for better treatment.
