11 ‘drug traders’ killed in ‘gunfights’ in 9 districts
Eleven suspected drug traders were killed in separate incidents of reported gunfights in Cumilla, Mymensingh, Chandpur, Dinajpur, Joypurhat, Barguna, Thakurgaon, Feni and Pabna early Saturday.
In Cumilla, two suspected drug traders were killed in a reported gunfight with police at Bagra area of Brahmanpara upazila around 1:30am.
The deceased Babul, 40, was accused in 16 cases and Almas, 36, accused in 8 case filed under Narcotics Control Act.
Police recovered 40 kilograms cannabis and a foreign made pistol from their possession.
In Mymensingh, a suspected drug trader was killed in a reported gunfight with police at Atharobari area in Ishwarganj upazila.
The deceased Shahjahan, 30, was accused in 8 cases filed under Narcotics Control Act.
In Chandpur, a listed drug trader Bablu, 42, was killed in an alleged gunfight with police at Kachua upazila.
In Dinajpur, a suspected drug trader Sabdarul Islam, 42, was killed in a reported gunfight with police at Birganj upazila.
Apart from another drug trader Abdus Salam was killed in a gunfight over sharing of drugs with his partners.
In Joypurhat, a suspected drug trader was killed in a reported gunfight with Rapid Action Battalion at Bhimpur area of Panchbibi upazila.
Rentu Miah, 35, was accused in 7 cases filed under Narcotics Control Act.
