Demo for quota gazette Sunday

Quota reform protesters on Saturday decided to stage demonstrations at colleges and universities across the country on Sunday demanding the gazette on quota as per the Prime Minister’s decision.

Nurul Haque Nur, Joint Convener of Bangladesh Sadharan Chhatra Adhikar Sangrakkhan Parishad on Saturday came up with the announcement at a press conference in front of the central library of Dhaka University.

Earlier on Wednesday, leaders of the quota reform movement threatened to continue fresh programmes until the gazette notification be published by Thursday last. 

The protesters launched the movement on February 17 and continued it for five-point demands, including reduction of quota in public service recruitment to 10 per cent from the existing 56 per cent.

In the face of mass protests by students across the country, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina announced scrapping the quota system in parliament on April 11.
