BGB recovers smuggled goods, drugs of Tk 84cr in April
The paramilitary force Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) recovered a huge quantity of smuggled goods and illegal drugs worth about Taka 84.3 crore from different border areas of the country last month, said an official release.
The smuggled goods and contraband items included 9,99,732 pieces of yaba pills, 39,982 bottles of phensidyl, 1.334 kg of heroin, 1,945 kg of cannabis, 7,012 bottles of foreign liquor, 13,780 pieces of contraband injections, 17,990 pieces of illegal tablets and 25,72,593 pieces of other tablets in April last.
BGB personnel also seized 39.139 kg of gold, 10,336 pieces of sarees, 3,853 pieces of three piece, 6,674 meter clothes, 1,555 readymade dresses, 1,037 pieces of spare parts of vehicle, two pickups, one truck, 15 CNG-run auto-rickshaw, 47 motorcycles and 18,955 CFT wood during the period.
BGB personnel also recovered six pistols, 11 guns, 27 rounds of bullet, and six magazines.
They also arrested 120 people for their suspected link to smuggle goods and drugs and arrested 120 Bangladeshi nationals for illegal trespass and handed them over to police.
They also captured 25 Indian citizens for illegally intruding to Bangladesh territory. The BGB personnel recovered smuggled goods and drugs of Taka 392.56 crore in different parts of the country from January to April this year.
