2 Bangladeshis killed in road crash in Malaysia

Two Bangladeshis were killed while six others were injured when the van they were travelling in skidded at KM121.4 of the East Coast Highway 1 of Kuantan city in Malaysia on Wednesday, reports New Straits Times.

Temerloh district police chief ACP Zundin Mahmood said thus far, one victim had been identified as Hossain Forhad, 36, a contract worker, while the other victim’s identity had yet to be established.

He said the identity of five other Bangladeshis who were injured in the 4.45pm crash have yet to be confirmed.

Also injured was the Nissan Urvan van driver, Mohd Kamarul Baharin, 52, from Rawang, Selangor who is also the supervisor of an engineering company.

“The accident is believed to have been caused by the sleepy driver which resulted the van to skid into a drain on the left side of the road,” he said.

He added that the bodies and all injured were sent to the Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Hospital here.
