Ex-SUST student stabbed dead in Sylhet

A former student of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) was stabbed to death by snatchers at Keane bridge area in Sylhet in the wee hours of Monday.

The deceased was identified as Mahid Al Salam, son of advocate Abdus Salam of Sylhet District Bar, a former student of Economics Department of SUST and a resident of Medina Market area in city. 

He was a former member of literature and publicity secretary of Mavoi Abritti Sangsad of SUST and an activist activist of Gonojagoron Mancha.

Snatchers stabbed Mehedi indiscriminately at Keane bridge area on his way to Kadamtoli bus stand for going to Dhaka around 1am, leaving him seriously injured, said Ripon, Sub- Inspector (SI) of South Surma Police Station.

On information, police rushed to the spot and sent him to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital where the doctors declared him dead, the SI added.
