Two drown in Sangu River

Two tourists, including a university teacher, drowned in the Sangu River in Ruma upazila of the district this afternoon.

The deceased were identified as Shanto Sarker, 25, a lecturer of Dhaka International University and his friend Shaed Ahosan, a student at Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET). They hailed from Dhaka, reports BSS.

Shanto and Shaed drowned this afternoon while taking bathe in the river in Barua Para area of the upazila and went missing. Later, local fishermen and divers recovered the duo.

They were admitted to Ruma Upazila Health Complex where the duty doctor declared them dead, said Ruma Upazila Nirbahi Officer Shamsul Alam.
