Shameem made Bangladesh envoy to Nigeria

The government has appointed Md Shameem Ahsan as the Ambassador of Bangladesh to the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

A career diplomat of 11th batch of Bangladesh Civil Service, Shameem, who is now serving as Consul General of Bangladesh in New York, joined Bangladesh Foreign Service in April 1993, a foreign office statement said today.

In his distinguished diplomatic career, he served in Bangladesh missions at Washington DC, Rome, Nairobi, Doha and Kuwait in different capacities.

He also represented Bangladesh in numerous international conferences.

Md Shameem Ahsan did his Masters and Honors in Political Science from University of Dhaka.

He completed National Defence Course (NDC) on security, strategic and development issues from the National Defence College.

He also completed Arabic Language Course at the University of Kuwait in 1997.

Shameem Ahsan was closely associated with the publication of "Liberation War: Friends of Bangladesh" by the ministry of foreign affairs.

He is the author of two books on diplomacy and international relations.

He is married to Guley Ferdousi Forhad and they have a daughter Nahla Ahsan.
