Cabinet thanks PM on country’s graduation from LDC

The Cabinet today extended thanks to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for her dynamic leadership in making Bangladesh eligible for the UN 'developing country' status.

The UNCPD (United Nations Committee for Development Policy) recognition to Bangladesh as a developing country came on March 15, 2018 for its sustainable economic position in all three categories required for the status, reports BSS.

The cabinet during its weekly meeting at the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) here adopted a thanksgiving resolution saying Bangladesh's success could be possible due to the dynamic and competent leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to take forward the country.

Cabinet Secretary Md. Shafiul Alam said cabinet members highly praised the leadership of the Prime Minister, her farsightedness and human values.

Farsighted leadership and wisdom of the Prime Minister in conducting the state affairs made it possible for Bangladesh to consolidate position in all three categories required for achieving the status of a developing country, the resolution said.

The cabinet observed that graduation of Bangladesh as a developing country is a great success for the people and the whole nation share this honour. The recognition has also consolidated the position of Bangladesh in the global arena, it said.

The cabinet also extended thanks to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina as a Singapore based internationally reputed research organization 'Statistic International' has ranked her as the second best prime minister of the world.

A recent survey of the Statistics International found Sheikh Hasina as the second best Prime Minister of the world for her competent leadership, quality of statesman, humanity, decision making capacity at national and international levels and highest presence in the global media in 2017.

The survey particularly focused on Sheikh Hasina's role in dealing with the Rohingya issue and her humanitarian responsibility to give them shelter.

Sheikh Hasina also has taken a successful diplomatic move for sending back the Rohingyas with honour and dignity and engaging major countries with the issue, the survey said adding that a few statesmen could manifest the success that Sheikh Hasina has showed before the world on Rohingya issue.
