Medical team ready to go Nepal: Nasim
Health and Family Welfare Minister Mohammed Nasim today said a medical team is ready to go Nepal to provide medical support for the injured people of a US-Bangla Airlines craft crashed near Kathmandu's Tribhuvan Airport, reports BSS.
"Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina gave us directive from Singapore to prepare a medical team to send Nepal. In line with her instruction, we have prepared a medical team and soon we will send them," he said.
He was speaking as the chief guest the opening ceremony of 45th Annual National Conference of the Ophthalmological Society of Bangladesh (OSB) at Bangabandhu International Conference Center in the city.
Nasim urged the medical colleges in the country to hoist black flags for three days in memory of the medical students who died in the accident.
OSB Chairman Professor Deen Mohammad Noorul Huq, OSB President Dr M Sharfuddin Ahmed, Secretary General Prof M Anisur Rahman, Vice-President of Asia Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology Prof Abha Hossain and Prime Minister's former Health Advisor Dr Syed Modasser Ali were present, among others.
The aim of the conference are improving the standard of teaching and training in the subject of Ophthalmology, arrange post graduate training at home and abroad for doctors and health workers in the field of ophthalmology, stimulate government efforts in the field of teaching and training of doctors and health workers in the field of Ophthalmology, said the organizers.
The conference would also help developing, equipment, service and maintenance of various types of Ophthalmic Institutions, Eye Hospital, Ophthalmic Department of Medical colleges, Post Graduate Institutions and General Hospital, Eye Clinics and Rehabilitation centers for blind, they added.
The programme would be concluded on March 17.
