Two sisters run over by Truck in Jessore

Two sisters were killed and another sustained serious injury when a sand- laden truck ran over a motorcycle in front of First Security Bank of Bagachra Bazar under Sharsha Upazila of Jessore district.

The incident took place on Navaran-Satkhira highway on Saturday morning.

The deceased are: Fatima Khatun, 12, a student of class seven and daughter of Alamgir Hossen and Zerin, 11, a student of class six and daughter of Ibrahim Molla, both of them from Baguri village and they are cousins. 

The motorcycle driver, Alamgir Hossen, 45, father of deceased Fatima, is a college lecturer sustained serious injury. He was admitted to a local private clinic. 

Politon Mia, Sub-inspector (SI) of Navaran highway police said Alamgir Hossen was going to school with his daughter and niece by motorcycle. On the way, a sand-laden truck lost control and hit the motorcycle, leaving two sisters died on the spot.

The truck was seized. But, driver and helper managed to escape the scene, SI added.

On information, Sarsha Upazila Nirbahi Officer Pulok Kumar Mondol visited the place.

Officer in charge (Investigation) of Sarsha Bagachra police investigation centre Humayun Kabir said that shock came down across the area due to the demise of two sisters.
