Tripura CM phones Sheikh Hasina, seeks cooperation
Newly elected Chief Minister of Indian State of Tripura Biplab Kumar Deb today sought Bangladesh's cooperation for the development of the state as he phoned Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
"The newly-elected Tripura Chief Minister phoned the prime minister before his swearing-in this morning," PM's Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim told BSS.
During the telephonic conversation, he said, Biplab Deb sought cooperation of the Bangladesh government for the development of the Indian northeastern state.
In reply, the prime minister assured the Tripura CM of continued cooperation from Bangladesh. "The mutual cooperation from Bangladesh will continue for the development of Tripura," she said.
Sheikh Hasina also greeted the Tripura government and the people.
The premier recalled with profound gratitude the cooperation and assistance the Tripura government and people rendered during Bangladesh's Liberation War in 1971.
The 48-year-old Biplab Dev was elected the Chief Minister of Tripura as his party BJP secured a landslide victory in the recently held election in the state.
