Four envoys present credentials to President
Ambassadors of China, Egypt and Palestine and High Commissioner of Sri Lanka to Bangladesh separately presented their credentials to President M Abdul Hamid at Bangabhaban here this afternoon.
The envoys are: Zhang Zuo of China, Walid Ahmed Shamseldin of Egypt, Yousef S. Y. Ramadan of Palestine and High Commissioner of Sri Lanka General (retired) AWJC De Silva.
Welcoming the envoys, President Hamid said the foreign policy attaches importance to bilateral and friendly relations with all, President's Press Secretary Mohammad Joynal Abedin told BSS.
Bangladesh always gives priority to the expansion of the bilateral relations in the field of trade and investment, the President said, hoping that the bilateral relations with these countries will further be expanded during their assignments here.
Terming Bangladesh a country of huge potentials, Abdul Hamid stressed on availing all possibilities in the respective interest of their countries and Bangladesh to bolster businesses and trade ties.
The President also urged envoys to become a development partner and enhance people-to-people contact among the countries in bilateral level.
The envoys told Abdul Hamid that they would do everything necessary to increase bilateral cooperation with Bangladesh in the days to come.
They lauded socio-economic development of Bangladesh and sought cooperation of authorities concerned in discharging their duties.
Secretaries concerned to the President and high officials of foreign ministry were present.
Earlier, on their arrival at Bangabhaban, a smartly turned-out contingent of the President Guard Regiment (PGR) offered the envoys guards of honour.
