Trump’s deputy assistant due today
Deputy Assistant to US President Donald Trump Lisa Curtis will arrive in the capital today on a three-day official visit.
During the visit, Curties, who is also US National Security Council's Senior Director for South and Central Asia, is expected to discuss issues related to bilateral interest, security and Rohingya crisis, official sources said.
Apart from visiting Rohingya refugee camps in Cox's Bazzar, the Trump's aide is also scheduled to meet Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali, among others, the sources added.
"We are really pleased that she is coming," US Ambassador in Dhaka Marcia Bernicat told reporters at a programme on Wednesday.
Curtis, a former CIA official, was a senior research fellow on South Asia in The Heritage Foundation before joining the White House.
