AL leader Monir arrested over Narail UP chairman murder
A case has been filed with Lohagora police station in Narail accusing fifteen people on charge of killing Latifur Rahman Polash, chairman of Digholia union parishad and labor affairs secretary of Awami League Lohagora upazila unit in the district.
Palash’s elder brother Saifur Rahman Hilu, Member of Zilla Parishad and also a freedom fighter filed the case on Saturday night against fifteen people including Sharif Moniruzzaman, Awami League joint secretary general of district unit, Local AL leader Masudduzzaman, Ex-chairman Imtiaz Ahmed Masum, Digholia Union AL unit president Ohidur Rahman.
Confirming the news, acting officer-in-charge (OC) of Lohagora police station Shafiqul Islam said that police arrested prime accused Sharif Moniruzzaman, Awami League joint secretary general of the district unit and his brother Baki Billah on the same night and police are trying to detain the others accused in the case.
Earlier on February 15, Latifur Rahman Polash, chairman of Digholia union parishad and labor affairs secretary of Awami League Lohagora unit, was shot and hacked by some miscreants in Lohagra Upazila Parishad area.
Locals took him to Lohagora Health Complex where doctors declared him dead.
