Formal diplomatic ties between Bangladesh-Kosovo established

Bangladesh has established formal diplomatic ties with Kosovo as the two countries signed a joint communiqu, in this regard on Friday.

Permanent Representative of Bangladesh to the United Nations Masud Bin Momen and Consul General of Kosovo Teuta Sahatqija signed the document on behalf of their respective sides in New York, according to a message received in Dhaka today.

"The document signed between Bangladesh and Kosovo would promote the ties of friendship between the two countries, widen the horizons of mutual cooperation and support the cause of international peace and security," the statement said.

It reaffirmed the commitment of both governments to the principles of the UN and international law including mutual respect for national sovereignty, territorial integrity and non-interference in the internal affairs of another state.

Bangladesh officially recognized Kosovo in February last year.
