Bangladesh Constitution best, unique in world: JS speaker
Jatiya Sangsad (JS) Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury today said the constitution of Bangladesh is one of the best and unique constitutions in the world.
"We did not only inherit this constitution, rather we achieved it through the bloodshed of thousands of martyrs," she said, speaking at a discussion at the auditorium of National Defence College here.
National Defense College organized the discussion titled 'Bangladesh and Its Constitution' where a number of trainees from national defence course and armed forces work course, faculty members and staff officers were present, said an official release.
Chaudhury said the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman gave the unique constitution as a gift to the nation on November 4, 1972 soon after the independence of the country.
She said three organs of the state - executive, legislature and judicial - perform their activities in the interest of the common people.
Bangladesh is moving forward to reach the destination of Bangabandhu's 'Sonar Bangla', Chaudhury said, adding, "We have already achieved the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and now we are working to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SGDs).
