Acid thrown burns four of a family

Four members of a family have been badly burnt when unidentified miscreants threw acid on them in Dhaka’s Mirpur.

The victims were rushed to the Burn Unit of the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) after the early morning acid attack on Thursday.

The victims were Suraj Alam Khan, 35, his wife Mahfuza Akter Subarna , 28, daughter Sanjida Sultana Reema ,9, and sister-in-law ‘Nilufer’, 32.

DMCH police outpost’s Inspector Mozzamel Haque told that Khan’s family lived in a tin-shed house at Mirpur’s Rupnagar area.

Subarna worked in a garment factory. She has told police that two masked men entered the house through an open early morning Thursday and splashed the family with acid before they fled.

He said Subarna has blamed Suraj for remote-controlling this acid attack as a sequel to a family squabble.
