SC upheld death penalty for JMB man

Appellate Division of the Supreme Court (SC) upheld the death sentence to Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen (JMB) militant Masumur Rahman Masum on charge of bomb attack at Lakshmipur court in 2005.

A four member bench of the Appellate Division led by Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha passed the order on Wednesday.

Lawyer Md Delwar Hossain moved for the petitioner while Deputy Attorney General Shashank Shekhar Sarkar stood for the state.

According to case statement, on October 3, JMB men conducted bomb attack in Lakhsmipur district court that left one dead.
