‘All-out efforts underway to complete Padma Bridge by December’
Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader today said 50 percent physical construction work of the Padma Bridge is completed and another span of the bridge would be installed by this month.
"All-out efforts are underway to complete the construction work of the Padma Bridge by December 2018 as a span has already been set up, while the remaining spans are being installed in phases alongside pile driving and installation of pair columns," he said while replying to a question from treasury bench member Salina Begum in the Jatiya Sangsad.
The minister said finalisation of the design of the bridge's piles is getting delayed slightly at 14 locations due to difference in the Padma River's soil layers, adding, "The process continues to resolve the problems fast in consultation with local and foreign experts."
