Govt bans export of three categories of raw jute
The government today imposed ban on export of three categories of raw jute until further order.
This decision was taken in a meeting of inter-ministerial jute affairs advisory committee with state minister for textiles and jute Mirza Azam in the chair, said a media release.
The three categories jutes are Bangla Tosha Rejection (BTR), Uncut and Bangla White Rejection (BWR).
The ban has been imposed as per the section-13 of Jute Act-2017 and it will remain in force until further order, said the release.
Export of other categories of jute will continue.
Textiles and jute secretary Faizur Rahman Chowdhury, additional secretaries Md Ashraf Ali and Gopal Krishna Bhattacharjee, BGMC chairman Mahmudur Rahman, director general of jute directorate Md Shamsul Alam, among others, attended the meeting.
Mirza Azam said 'National Jute Day-2018' will be observed on March 6 across the country. Jute is being used for packing 17 products including paddy, rice and wheat, he added.
