Recruitment tests of 8 banks cancelled

An examination for appointing senior officers to eight bank and financial institutions has been cancelled on Tuesday over allegations of gross mismanagement and irregularities in the exam.

The Bankers’ Selection Committee (BSC) took the decision in an emergency meeting held on Tuesday at Bangladesh Bank office in the participation of representatives from BSC, fourteen state-run banks and financial institutions and Ministry of finance in the chair of Bangladesh Bank governor Fazle Kabir.

The emergency meeting was called over the allegations of gross mismanagement and irregularities in the recruitment exams of eight banks and financial institutions held on Friday.

Bangladesh Bank General Manager GM Abul Kalam Azad told Jago News that An investigation committee has been formed during the meeting to look into allegations that the mismanagement and irregularities was taken place in the exam. The committee has been asked to submit their investigation report within two weeks.

Later, the explanation will be sought into the Management department of Dhaka University following the report, he said.

The decision on the process of holding exam will be taken and announced later.

Now, the bankers’ authorities decided to hold the test again and the date of the exam will be announced later. 

The examinees, who took part in the preliminary recruitment exams of the eight state-run banks and financial intuitions on Friday, staged a flash protest in Dhaka since Sunday demanding the scrapping of the combined bank recruitment tests for the post of senior officer over allegations of gross mismanagement and irregularities in the exam.
