EC to begin nat’l election process in October

The process of holding the 11th parliamentary election will start from October 30 this year.

A K M Nurul Huda, Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) came up with the remark on Monday while responding to the query of reporters on Monday at the circuit house of Satkhira at 11am.

He hoped that all the political parties will participate in the upcoming national polls to be held in December this year or January in 2019.

Mentioning that there is no scope of using EVM (Electronic Voting Machine) in the upcoming national election, the CEC said that following some administrative complexities and river erosion, the demarcation work in 60/70 constituencies is underway.

However, it will not affect the election, he said.

While replying to a question on BNP’s proposal about “supporting government” to uphold the next general election, he said it is a political matter and the government will take decision over the issue.
