Khaleda gets bail in Jatrabari arson case
The Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judges’ Court granted bail to Begum Khaleda Zia, the chairperson of Bangladesh Nationalist Party, in a case for arson attack on a bus at Jatrabari in 2015.
Judge Abu Ahmed Jamadar of the Dhaka Special Judges Court 3 granted the bail upon a bond of Tk1 lakh on Tuesday morning.
Earlier she reached at the court premises at about 10:45am and surrender to the court.
Hundreds of leaders and activists of BNP and its associate bodies welcomed Khaleda when a car carrying her entered the court premises around 10:30am.
Earlier on March 30, 2016, a Dhaka court issued warrants for the arrest of Khaleda and 27 leaders of BNP and Jamaat in the case on charge of the arson attack at Jatrabari in the city during the BNP-led alliance’s blockade.
On January 23, 2015, at least 31 people got burned after miscreants hurled two firebombs at a bus in Jatrabari intersection.
One of the injured later died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
