Mobile network operators (MNOs) are ready to launch provide 4G/LTE service by the end of March this year.

Shahjahan Mahmood, Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) Chairman came up with the information on Sunday at a press conference at BTRC.

He said that 4G services might be available by March this year as now there is no legal complication to introduce this process.

The Supreme court on Sunday overruled a High Court ruling that had placed a curb on the holding of spectrum auctions and by this the hindrance to introduce 4G services in the country has been removed completely.

“We have information all the top operators are technically prepared,” Mahmoood remarked on Sunday.

He said, “After getting the license and paying the spectrum fees, according to the guideline, mobile operators can offer 4G service.”

So far the BTRC has received four applications for 4G license and a committee has been formed to to evaluate the applications of licencing and spectrum auction.

The name of the qualified applications will be published on January 25, Mahmood confirmed.

Beside this, a mock auction will be organized on February 12.
