9 sentenced to death for killing AL leader in Narail

A Khulna court on Sunday sentenced to death nine persons, including a former UP chairman for murder of Narail Awami League leader Probhash Roy in 2017.

MA Rob Hawladar, the Khulna Speedy Trial Tribunal judge announced the verdict within a year of the incident. All the convicts were present in court to hear the verdict.

The convicts are Ex-Bhadrabila Union Council Chairman Md Shahidur Rahman Mina (52), his brother Md Ilias Mina (56), his son Md Ashiqur Mina (22), Md Russel Mina (30), Bashar Molla (30), Robiul Molla (25), Enayet Molla (53), Yasin Molla (24) and Mamun Mina (28).

Besides, the court fined them with Tk 50,000 each, said the state’s counsel Enamul Hoque.

Probhash Roy, president of Bhadrabila Awami League, was hacked to death while talking to the general secretary of his unit on Feb 1, 2017, according to the case dossier.
