DIG Mizanur withdrawn on charge of forced marriage
Additional Commissioner Mizanur Rahman has been withdrawn from the duty of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) on charges of forcing a woman into marriage.
Following the withdrawal order on Tuesday, the police officer has been attached to the police headquarters.
Confirming the news, a senior police officer said that the ministry of home affairs will take next necessary measures on DIG Mizanur Rahman.
The women, Morium Akter Eko has brought allegation against DIG Mizanur that the officer picked up her on July 15 last year and later married forcefully.
Morium alleged that she was framed in a false case in which she had been in jail for three weeks. She received bail a week ago.
She became acquainted with the police official through one of his friends and gradually developed a good rapport with him.
Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan told the media on Tuesday that an inquiry has been opened.
