Filmmaker Shahidul Islam dies

Noted filmmaker Shahidul Islam Khokon was died at Uttara Adhunik Hospital at 8:15am Monday in the capital. He was 59.

Khokon had long been suffering from Motor Neurone Disease, a progressive disease involving degeneration of the motor neurons and wasting of the muscles.

He was admitted to the hospital as his condition deteriorated on December 31 last year.

Films directed by Khokon include Loraku, Birpurush, Bojromusthi, Biplob, Akorma, Shotorka Shoitan, Bishdant, Top Rongbaj, Utthan Poton, Lal Sabuj and Palabi Kothai.
