Bus catches fire as gas balloons explode, 7 burnt

Seven people were injured when gas balloons exploded on a bus at Farmgate in the capital at 11am on Saturday.

Identities of the injured could not be known immediately.

Mazharul Islam, officer-in-charge of Tejgaon Police Station, said: “A few people on their way to an event boarded a reserve bus of Chhatra League carrying gas balloons. The balloons were exploded when someone on the bus lit a cigarette.”

The victims were admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, said DMCH police outpost in-charge Bachchu Miah.

Medical College Hospital burn unit Residential Surgeon Partha Shankar Paul said that the injured are safe now after taking primary treatment.
