Writ seeks mandatory observance of 8 nat’l days
A writ petition was filed with the High Court on Wednesday seeking its directive on the authorities concerned to enforce obligation for all including political parties to observe eight national days.
These are: 7 March Speech of Bangabandhu, Mujibnagar Day on April 17, Martyred Intellectuals Day on December 14, Independence and National Day March 26, Victory Day December 16, Bangabandhu’s homecoming day on January 10, National Mourning Day on August 15, Jail Killing Day on November 3.
The writ was filed by Mozammel Haque and Md. Sahidul, two lawyers of the Supreme Court.
The hearing on the petition might be held on Thursday.
They seek the stay order on the upcoming national election until the writ petition is realized.
