Writ for judicial probe over Tonu killing

A writ petition has been filed to the Hight Court (HC) seeking directives for judicial probe in the sensational case of Sohagi Jahan Tonu murder.

In the petition, Eunus Ali Akond on Sunday morning prayed to court to order the government to give Tk 30 lakh as compensation to the victim’s family.

He also requested the apex court to issue a rule asking the government to explain as to why its inaction in arresting the Tonu killers should not be declared illegal.

Secretary of Defense, Secretary of Home, Area Commander of Comilla Cantonment, Inspector General of Police, Comilla Police Super, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kotwali Police Station among eight people made defendant in the writ petition.
