Mosharraf Hossain Bhuiyan made NBR chairman
Former secretary of the industries ministry Mosharraf Hossain Bhuiyan has been appointed as senior secretary of Internal Resources Division (IRD) and chairman of the National Board of Revenue (NBR) for a two-year contract, reports BSS.
The Ministry of Public Administration issued an order in this regard today.
He has replaced Md Nojibur Rahman, who joined the Prime Minister's Office as Principal Secretary on December 31.
“I’ll join the NBR tomorrow (Thursday). I want to carry forward the positive trend the NBR has achieved in revenue mobilization and increasing the number of taxpayers,” Hossain told BSS.
“Another priority area is to further improve the investment friendly atmosphere in the country,” he added.
An officer of BCS 1981, Hossain was appointed as acting secretary of Bridge Division on February 3 2010 and was made secretary on July 29, 2010. He was made secretary of the Ministry of Industries on October 26, 2014 and he was promoted to senior secretary on April 11, 2016.
Earlier, he was executive chairman of Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority and member of Bangladesh Privatization Commission.
He did his honours and master’s in Economics from Dhaka University.
