193 deputy secretaries promoted to joint secy

The government has promoted 193 deputy secretaries to joint secretaries, raising the number of joint secretaries to 842.

Although the number of permanent posts for joint secretary is around 450.

The Ministry of Public Administration issued a promotion order on Thursday night.

Rumor of three tier promotion in Administration was in talk for the last few months. Finally, promotion to the post of Joint Secretary has been finalized.

As per rules, in addition to promoting the post of joint secretary, 193 officials have been made officers on special duty (OSD). But they have not been posted.

An official of Ministry of Public Administration said that the numbers of additional secretary to the post of Additional Secretary is more than the regular post. Then the promotion made now again. This promotion will create more chaos in administration.

It is noted in the regulation of promotion for the post of deputy-secretary, joint Secretary, additional secretary and secretary that 70 per cent of admin cadre officials and 30 percent of others cadre  officials  of deputy secretary post will be considered  in terms of promotion to the post of joint secretary.

As per regulation, officials will be considered for the promotion to the post of joint secretary who have worked for 5 years to the post of deputy secretary with 15 years’ experience in service or 3 years to the post of deputy secretary with 20 years’ experience in service.
