EC satisfied over Rangpur city polls: CEC
Expressing satisfaction over the Rangpur City Corporation (RpCC) polls, Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) KM Nurul Huda today said the commission is happy as the election was held peacefully.
"The voting has completed in a festive mood and the voters exercised their franchise without any fear," he told the reporters at his office in the Election Commission (EC) Bhaban in city's Agargaon, according to a news agency.
Rejecting BNP's allegation about irregularities in the polls, Huda said, "We've gleaned information from the locals. Voters didn't come up with any complaint. So, the BNP's allegation doesn't seem to be authentic."
He said the EVM (Electronic Voting Machine) was used at one center and the voters are satisfied using the EVMs.
Huda said, "We have a plan of using EVMs also in the next local elections on a small scale. However, it will not be possible to use EVMs in the upcoming national election," said the CEC.
