UNICEF lauds Bangladesh’s initiatives for ensuring child rights
UNICEF Representative to Bangladesh Edouard Beigbeder today appreciated all the initiatives undertaken by Bangladesh government to implement the child rights in the country.
Beigbeder came up with the admiration while he was paying a courtesy call on Jatiya Sangsad (JS) Deputy Speaker Fazle Rabbi Miah at his office in the city, said an official release.
During the meeting, they discussed about the convention on child rights and the upcoming child parliament assembly to be held in Dhaka next year, the release added.
Deputy Speaker Fazle Rabbi expressed hope that one child nominated by the local lawmaker from each constituency of the country would take part in the assembly that is scheduled to be held in Dhaka in the first half of 2018.
He also informed the UNICEF representative that the government has made the primary education compulsory for all.
At the meeting, Miah also told the UNICEF representative that the government is paying cent percent salary to the secondary school teachers in order to provide them with better lives, the release added.
