Livestock minister Sayedul’s first janaza held
The first namaz-e-janaza of fisheries and livestock minister Muhammed Sayedul Hoque was held at the South Plaza of Jatiya Sangsad in Dhaka at 10:20am on Sunday.
He will be buried at his family graveyard at village Purbabhagh following another namaz-e-janaza after zuhr prayers.
Sayedul, an organiser of Liberation War and Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s political aide, breathed his last at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) around 8:30am on Saturday.
The minister had been undergoing treatment at the hospital since 17 September for old-age complications. He was put on life support on 13 December.
Born on 4 March 1942, Sayedul was elected MP for five times - 1973, 1996, 2001, 2008 and 2014 - on Awami League ticket.
Sayedul was made the fisheries and livestock minister after Awami League formed government in 2014.
He was also the vice-president of Brahmanbaria College Students’ Union (1965-1966) and he actively took part in the Liberation War.
