8 FFs injured in road accident on way to V-Day festival
Eight freedom fighters and an auto-rickshaw driver were injured in a head-on collision between three-wheeler and auto-rickshaw on Bailey bridge of Ulipur Upazila in Kurigram on Saturday morning.
The injured people are: Durgapur Freedom Fighters Unit Commander Moshiur Rahman (62), Abdul Jabber (68), Rostam Ali (70), Saifur Rahman Bakshi (64), Osman Gani (65), Abu Yusuf Sarker (70), Abdus Sattar (67), Abdur Rahim (55) and auto-rickshaw driver Abdur Rashid (27).
Of them, Abu Yousuf was sent to Rangpur Medical college hospital in a critical condition.
District freedom fighter unit commander Sirajul Islam Tuku said freedom fighters of Gorai, Masterpara, Panchpir and Jamuna area of Durgapur Union were going to take part in Victory Day festival at the invitation of Ulipur upazila administration.
Later an auto-rickshaw carrying them collided head-on with a three wheeler on Bailey bridge and injured all of them including the auto-rickshaw driver.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Rafiqul Islam (General), Sadar UNO Amin Al Pervez and District Freedom Fighter Unit commander Sirajul Islam Tuku were rushed to the hospital to see the injured freedom fighters.
In this connection, Dr. Shahinur Sardar Shipon, a Residential Medical officer of the Kurigram hospital said: “Nine injured people in the road accident were treated in the hospital. Three of them were given primary treatment and another was referred to Rangpur Medical Hospital. Now, five including driver are undergoing treatment in the hospital.”
