Rare documents on Liberation War go online

A good number of rare documents on the War of Liberation in 1971 have been uploaded on a website to make those easily available to the people.

Liberation War e-Archive Trust posted the documents online for the people on the occasion of the 46th anniversary of the nation's victory in 1971, said a press release today.

The documents include records of Red Cross from 1971 to 75 containing important information on the homecoming of the refugees, including those who were stranded in Pakistan during the war, documents of Rotarian International on refugees, original copies of the reports published in different international newspapers in the last 17 days of December in 1971 and some reports of the Venstakusten newspaper published in Swedish language, the release added.

Speaking about releasing the documents for public, Liberation War e-Archive Trust Founder and Director Sabbir Hossain said, "We are collecting various documents on the War of Liberation from different libraries and archives of the USA. The work is underway to post more documents online in future".

Different records and documents on the Liberation War were not easily available to the Bangladeshi readers for long, Trust Chairman Shanta Anwar said, adding: "We are working to make the information and records on the war easily accessible to the people".

Since its inception in 2007, the Liberation War e-Archive has collected different records, write-ups, articles, research papers, newspapers, books, lists of freedom fighters, photographs, audios, video footages, documentaries and movies on the War of Liberation since its, the release said.

Because of its vastness of contents, the e-Archive is also working as a research material source for the South Asia Division of Exeter University in UK.
