Suspected robber killed in shootout with police in Tejgaon

An alleged robber was killed in a ‘gunfight’ with police, in Dhaka’s Tejgaon industrial area.

The deceased was identified as Abdullah, 31s, a member of a robbery gang. During gunfight, two police were wounded who admitted to Rajarbag Police hospital.

The incident occurred around 3:30am on Tuesday night near the BG Press Field area, said Tejgaon Industrial Area Police.

The police team started an operation in the area after hearing the news that the gang was preparing to commit robberies in the area, source said.

When the law enforcers reached near the spot, the gang members opened fire. In retaliation, police backed fire that triggering a "gunfight". During the "gun battle", Abdullah was hit by bullets and died on the spot and the others fled, said police.

The wounded man was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
