128 officials promoted to additional secretary

A total of 128 joint secretary has been promoted to the post of additional secretary in administration.

The Ministry of Public Administration issued a promotion order on Monday.

Rumor of three tier promotion in Administration was in talk for the last few months. Finally, promotion to the post of Additional Secretary has been finalized.

In addition to promoting the post of additional secretary, 128 officials have been made officers on special duty (OSD). But they have not been posted.

Now the number of additional secretaries are 560.  Although the number of permanent posts for additional secretary is a few more than one hundred.

An official of Ministry of Public Administration said that the numbers of additional secretary to the post of Additional Secretary is more than the regular post. Then the promotion made now again. This promotion will create more chaos in administration.

Many of promoted officials will have to work in previous post.  It is noted in the regulation of promotion for the post of deputy-secretary, joint Secretary, additional secretary and secretary that 70 per cent of admin cadre officials and 30 percent of others cadre  officials  of joint secretary post will be considered  in terms of promotion to the post of additional secretary.

As per regulation, officials will be considered for the promotion to the post of additional secretary who have worked for 3 years to the post of joint secretary with 20 years’ experience in service or 2 years to the post of joint secretary with 22 years’ experience in service.

It is learned that the order of promotion to the post of joint secretary from deputy secretary and deputy secretary from assistant secretary to be issued soon.

Earlier, 267 assistant secretary and equivalent posts holder promoted to the post of deputy secretary. Mass promotion has been given in administration last year. At that time 536 officials get promotion to the post of additional secretary, joint secretary and deputy secretary.
