Bank guard burnt alive in N’ganj market fire

A security guard was burnt alive in a fire at a branch of United Commercial Bank (UCB) limited at a city corporation market in Narayanganj in the wee hours of Sunday.

The deceased was identified as Selim, 45. The reason behind the fire could not be known immediately.

The fire originated at the bank around 3:30am and soon spread to the whole office, killing Selim on the spot.

In this connection, Shahin Shah, officer-in-charge of Narayanganj Sadar Model Police Station, told Jagonews24.com that, “On information, nine units of firefighters from Dhaka and Narayanganj city rushed to the spot and brought the flame under control.”

Later, firefighters recovered the charred body of Selim from inside the bank and sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue, the OC added.
