HC for compensation of Tk 4.61 crore to Tareque Masud’s family

The High Court (HC) today ordered to give Taka 4, 61, 75,452 crore in compensation to the family of talented filmmaker Tareque Masud, who lost his life along with four others in a tragic road accident in Manikganj on August 13, 2011.

"A High Court division bench comprising Justice Zinat Ara and Justice Kazi Md Ejarul Haque Akondo passed the order, asking the driver and owner of the killer bus that caused the accident, along with an insurance company, to pay the sum," Barrister Sara Hossain, counsel for Tareque's widow Katherin Masud, told newsmen, BSS reported.

Family members of the deceased filed two cases seeking compensation under section 128 of vehicle act in 2013. The cases were later shifted to the High Court after holding hearing on rule issued in this regard.

Today the court pronounces judgement in the case lodged by Tareque's family.
